At The Giving Tree, we believe in creating a fun, supportive and safe learning environment that is based on respect for the children, and that embraces how special each child is. Through our play-based program, children can share experiences with friends and care for others. It also gives them opportunities through a variety of activities and learning spaces, to build their independence and confidence. We base our success on how happy we all are together, knowing that children thrive and learn best when they have the time and space to wonder, to imagine, to ask questions, and to actively participate in order to explore the word around them and how they fit into it…

  • Communication and Language
The Giving Tree will support children to build their competence in spoken language including their ability to  listen to others, reflect on what has been said, articulate their thoughts and express their opinions and also help children build their vocabulary and provide a foundation for writing.
  • Problem Solving and Mathematical Development
The Giving Tree will help children understand basics concepts of shapes, measurement, and the ability to orient in time and space but also help children to develop their skills in recognizing numbers.
  • Understanding of the World
The Giving Tree will develop a respect and interest for different cultures, people and all things living we will also actively participate in their environment and work with a range of materials, conduct practical experiments, interact with living things such as plants, and use a range of tools.
  • Physical Skills and Well Being
The Giving Tree will support children to be physically active and to know
their bodies through a variety of activities and to develop skills such as
coordination, control and movement. We will help children develop their
understanding of sharing, taking turns and cooperation with others. We
will support children to understand the importance of healthy living and
    taking care of their bodies.
  • Creative Development
The Giving Tree will encourage children to express their enjoyment, thoughts and experiences. We will give children the opportunity to build, create and construct using different materials and techniques and through a variety of media including art, music, dancing, yoga, and role plays/theatre.

At The Giving Tree all children will be provided a safe and fun environment for creative
and stimulating learning. Some of the learning spaces that will be available for your
child include:

  • Art spaces in the classrooms
Different materials such as paper, pens, paints, glue, play dough, scissors, tape and stickers will allow children to be creative, explore and express their feelings and ideas.
  •  Imaginative play spaces in the classrooms
Many different resources will be available for children during their imaginative play. Various props and dress-up clothes will be on hand for role plays, and to help children express their thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
  • Mathematical spaces
Math exists everywhere in daily activities: when we draw, do puzzles, play games, sing songs, read and listen to rhymes, do water play, play music, build blocks or play outside. Children will be encouraged to notice all the mathematical aspects of every day life.
  • Construction spaces
Building and playing with a variety of materials such as boxes, crates, ropes, cloth, soft pieces of wood and an assortment of nails, nuts and bolts will enable children to construct and practice their problem solving skills. Blocks, Lego, puzzles and games in the classrooms will also encourage creativity and design, as well as cooperation and communication.
  • Library/book space
Children will be acquainted with the wonderful world of books in both the library and classrooms. The library will both stimulate interest in ”reading books” and provide rest and relaxation by listening to stories read by our practitioners. A selection of books according to themes will regularly be available in the classrooms as well.
  • Musical space
By playing instruments, singing, dancing, and using their bodies, the children will develop their motor skills and balance, and explore different rhythms, tempos, and sounds. Our musical space will include a variety of resources so that the children can create their “own instruments” and explore the musicality within themselves.

  • Sand and water spaces
In these spaces, children will be provided with many resources that will help them to investigate the world around them. In the sandbox, toys and tools such as buckets, moulds, shovels, sieves, and funnels will be provided so that children can play, take turns and learn how to create and build together. During water play, children will have the opportunity to do many water activities, including using water slides and manipulating buckets, pumps, small pools and hoses. For the older children we will offer weekly swimming classes with an accredited swimming instructor.

  • Garden space
In our garden children can grow plants, look at insects and study nature. They will be provided with resources such as watering cans, gardening tools, seeds, and magnifying glasses.
